Question by nestprop: What is the best home-based business to start with a small investment that does NOT involve MLM?
I am looking to start my own business. I have only a small amount of capital to invest. I would like to hear the comments and experiences of others who have done so successfully. I am not interested in MLM of any type.

You may get tons of responses to this question from people who indeed want you to join their MLM deal, claiming that “it’s not MLM” even though they want you to recruit people (which IS MLM by any definition). Anything that is a “two up” is actually MLM, even though they will deny it. The best place to find info on this is to go to various forums that deal with this subject, rather than browsing the Internet. The Internet search engines are LOADED with recruiters who have gotten to the top of search pages and will try to give you wonderful testimonies about how their people have made outrageous amounts of money in very little time (and that your small “investment” will be made back in a week or so). I’ve been looking for something legitimate to do from home for several years and as of yet I have only found MLM companies that mask themselves as “non MLM” just to get your money. Good luck with your search, but again, be aware of the “two up” system and by all means AVOID GIFTING PROGRAMS LIKE THE PLAGUE! If you have ever gotten involved in one you know what a pyramid scam they are. You will always either come out on the short end of things or rob others “below you” in the pyramid of their hard earned money. Gifting is illegal and a scam and has ruined many people (but it, too, masks itself as a legitimate way to make money from home).
Good luck!

Question by snowbird223: Does anyone know of any home “businesses” that actually have meaning?
I have tried a variety of things in my short life so far and most of the things I have tried as far as home businesses have to do with “referral” like, for ex. ” there is no selling, no cost (wrong!!) no huge investment (wrong!!) just by word of mouth” Okay, where is the meaning to all of this? You sign up, then what? you pay your money to sign up, then you refer someone else to sign up and then so on and so on, So basically there really is no hidden costs BUT, there is also no meaning to the company as well, ONLY that you are “selling” the sign up fee. Thats it. The companies have a name that “claim” to be doing something..(what)? You are just basically “selling an idea” thats it. there is nothing else. Are there any online companies out there that actually serve some type of purpose? Anyone else feel the same?

I agree with the comments of the Questioner. There is no real gain in referral business except to some initial members but the plan die out when no body trust the site and stop joining.

Question by ProudArmyWife2005: What’s the best “make money from home” method out there?
Im talking about legitamite work, not pyramid schemes or stuffing envelopes for people in far off countries. I would like something you have tried and can prove.
FYI: I already do Ebay & CraigsList for extra cash but always looking for something else.

Find an unusual product that no-one else sells – arts and craft works are good because they are unique but there are lots of other areas. Set up a website; eBay shops are a good way to start but get a real site too. Learn how to do Internet marketing yourself through any of a number of big webmaster forums. Be honest and deliver fast. Avoid affiliate and drop-shipping schemes though.

Question by His Divine Shadow: Anyone know any good scams out there?
Feel free to describe anything – I am looking for some good ol’ fashioned get-rich-quick schemes, including Multi Level Marketing scams like Amway, Quixtar, or Primerica. Perhaps you’d prefer to offer up some of your favourite scam websites boasting “business opportunities,” work for students, or “work at home programs.” If you can’t get more specific than that, feel free to suggest some of the typical scams you know about, like envelope stuffing or pyramid schemes. The only thing not allowed is to mention any of the examples I just did – I am trying to build a list of scams for the clueless first-time job seeker. Thanks!

Here is the truth… there is no real answer to your question… earning potential depends on three things:

3. The amount of time you put into your business..

Question by tooblessed2doubt: Do I need a business license?
I will be operating a home-based “business” in Fulton County, Georgia. Basically I’ll just be doing some data entry and monitoring the delivery of merchandise. I am only going to be working for ONE company — they are in Europe and just need someone in the US to oversee the delivery of their products to their customers in the US. I can’t find any relevant info online… Do I even need a license to be independently contracting my services??
BTW, I KNOW this isn’t a scam…I live in Europe now and do the same thing for this company right now for their clients here. But I’m moving back to the US next month. I’ll just do the same thing for their clients here. AND, it’s handmade FURNITURE, not drugs.

You determine what you do well that people need or want and are willing to pay for and start your own business. All the ones on the web are people who found a way to convince you to send them your money and you get nothing unless you can do the same to others.

Best answer:
Answer by Chad
The only true legitimate way of making money online is by using adsense and building a website and place ads on your website. You then earn revenue when someone clicks on your ads. Although you need alot of traffic to your site to make anything.
I see you got a lot of scammers already on this question that have answered.
