You are going to get a lot of responses fro this question. Some legit and some not.

What I suggest is doing some D&D. Here are some simple rules to follow

#1 if there is hype in the ad or it seems to good to be true, it usually is(real businesses require some work icon smile Are there any legit home based businesses?

#2 check to see how long business opportunity has been in business. In a world where internet companies life span is measured in months, find something that has been around for several years.

#3 send the webmaster an email, you will tell right away , if you get a quick clear response with no hype.

    1. There are many of them, but wading though the info can be tough.

More and more people are looking to join the on-line work from home businesses where they can enjoy tax benefits, flexible hours and the freedom of being their own boss while earning a residual income.

Not only is it a lifestyle and source of financial freedom, people are enjoying the added benefit of being able to be around their family more than if they were out “at” a job, something that is once again becoming important to society even though we all need that second income while raising our children.

If that’s something that you’re looking into, then start figuring out what the current market trend is, find something in that trend that excites you….something you’d really enjoy doing and start researching companies from there.

Of course, you want to beware of that “get rich quick” and “pay us this amount of money and we’ll show you how” sort of thing. Run Forest run! You know that’s gotta be a bad deal.

Of the companies that appear to be legitimate, check out what they’re offering you and if that fits what you want, and if it does, then look even harder – inside and out – at that company. Find out what kind of training and ongoing support they’ll offer you as well as that can be such a crucial point to your success.

Once you’re satisfied that everything is above board, then go for it! The trend is swinging very quickly to on-line home based businesses and it can be very lucrative.

    2. Below are some helpful links on home business:

All businesses (home, store front and online) have risk of failure with no promise of success. I recommend you do detailed research and get into a business that you like and for which you have a passion. Remember, a business is not only about the money you make but about giving back to those in need.

I like the travel business. Maybe it is something that you will like or maybe you won’t.

When you are doing your research on a company here are some things (not all) to look for:

      1. How long has it been in business?
      2. Is there a financial disclosure statement available?
      3. Is the company on the stock exchange and regulated by the SEC?
      4. Is it a member of the DSA (Direct Selling Association)?
      http://www.dsa.org
      5. Is information on the founders of the company easily available on the website?
      6. Does it sell a service/product that makes sense to you?
      7. Does the website provide enough information in articles, video and audio links for you to make a fair and open minded decision?
      8. Does the company have a “Bill of Rights” that promises the payment plan will not change without permission?
      9. Does website have contact info in which you can talk or email real people?
      10. Does it make any ridiculous promises that a homebase business is so easy and that you will get rich in 30 days?
      11. Is this something that you would love to do?
      12. Does the company let the public visit its main offices and meet the leaders to “kick the tires” as it were just to make sure it is a real business staffed with real people?
      13. Does it offer any types of health and life insurance benefits and plans?
      14. Does it offer local meetings around the country?
      15. Does the company provide certification training?
      16. Is the company expanding outside of the United States?
      17. Does the company provide access to conference calls where the latest information is available?
      18. Does it post what is costs, somewhere on the first page instead of hiding it?
      19. Is every company perfect and without fault?
      20. Is the compensation plan copyrighted and protected?
      21. Has the company been featured in trade magazines?
      22. Has it been ranked as a top company in its field, at least among the top 50?
      23. Does the company offer you a chance to become part of it for free as an option?
      24. Is it a member of the Better Business Bureau?
      http://www.bbb.org
      25. Who are some well known people who part of the company? A well known person who is a part of your organization is far better than someone who merely gets paid to endorse it.
      26. Does the company have a non-profit program to help communities and charities in need.

    4. Yes indeed there’s a legit home based business that actually works, is not a scam, and doesn’t require much to start up…

but the real question is, are you willing to take the time to build the business no matter what? are you willing to learn HOW to market it the right way? are you willing to work with other people and help them as well?

if you are definitely looking to seriously build an online business that’s home based than contact me at freecash4lyfe@gmail.com

I can perhaps share some valuable info :)

    5. There are many ways to make money online but allot of them can be scams if your not careful. If you are asked to pay any money to join a program then i would think carefully before doing it.

The safe ways of earning online which you can do yourself are things like ebay, affiliate selling, adsense, blogging and online freelancing.

You can make a fair amount of money these ways but it does involve allot of work and research, and maybe some time before you bring in big money.

It often starts of small but once you know what your doing and your website or service gets going then it can really pick up.

    8. Yes, there are many.

A legit home based business is a business that offers a product, service and/or information of value to the seeker. And these legitimate businesses exchange these values for money.

Many home based businesses do not require a lot in the sense of start up costs. The best what to be involved on a legitimate business is by creating your own and maintaining control over the operation. I have found some great examples of business ideas at http://www.entrepreneur.com (online or offline)
The web host that I use also has many great ideas, examples and tips at http://find.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDreams.html
I have built business online and would be happy to share some tips too.

      BEST WISHES!

    9. My wife and I started in our home based business over six years ago. I was undergoing knee opporations and was laid up for awhile. My wife was on bed rest due to pregnancy complications from her fourth month on. We got involved with the largest direct selling Telecommunication service provider in the world. They are 15 years old now with head quarters in Farmington Hills Michigan, Charlotte North Carolina, Amsterdam, Sydney and Montreal. They have been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated them the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it’s first five years. They are registered with the BBB and FDSA as well.
They market in services people use every day and pay for anyway, like I had said. Services like Local and Long Distance telephones, Internet, Digital, video phones, Satellite TV, and all the major cellular phone companies like T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Nextell, Altell etc as well. We save people money and make money at the same time. Every single month these people pay their bills, we make a percentage over and over again each month. Donald Trump has endorsed our company and uses the services as well.
How many people do you know, or know of around the world that uses one or more of these services or products? . A lot of people right? You can save them money and make money. Incredible amount of money involved in this industry and very simple to do.
This business is also a major funding resource for non profit organizations. With the income we make, we were able to start our own non profit organization :( http://seafaringopportunities.org)
