Question by tooblessed2doubt: Do I need a business license?
I will be operating a home-based “business” in Fulton County, Georgia. Basically I’ll just be doing some data entry and monitoring the delivery of merchandise. I am only going to be working for ONE company — they are in Europe and just need someone in the US to oversee the delivery of their products to their customers in the US. I can’t find any relevant info online… Do I even need a license to be independently contracting my services??
BTW, I KNOW this isn’t a scam…I live in Europe now and do the same thing for this company right now for their clients here. But I’m moving back to the US next month. I’ll just do the same thing for their clients here. AND, it’s handmade FURNITURE, not drugs.

sounds like you got caught up in a drug trafficking scheme.

I’d check very carefully that this is not a scam. Reading between the lines it sounds like a variation on the tradition 4-1-9 scam. Are they wanting you to deposit checks on their behalf and then have you send them funds via western union by any chance? Be warned, your account will be plundered and they will take every last cent you have.

You need a business license if you are going to create your own entity in order to record the revenue and pay taxes on it.
If you want help doing all of that you can email me, we are a payroll service in Marietta. joe@unipayco.com
If you are considered an employee of the other company then THEY probably need to get that license for you…
